New oceanographic instrumentation is being attached to the buoy
After more than a month of successfull testing of meteorological and ADCP instrumentation in a temporary location nearshore, the buoy has been taken out of water and brought to the Blanes harbor in order to attach new oceanographic sensors.
During these days until 14th September, the buoy will be prepared for deployment with full meteorological and oceanographic instrumentation in an offshore mooring site. The new deployment will take place during 15-16 September on board R/V Garcia del Cid in the Blanes Canyon head.
A surface thermosalinograp along with two sets of sensors at 25 and 50 m depth will be incorporated to the buoy system. The sensors will measure water temperature, salinity, turbidity, irradiance (PAR), fluorescence chlorophyll and dissolved oxygen.
Bigger solar pannels will replace the present ones for them to be suitable to charge the battery in autumn and winter!
A buoy tracker system will also be a part of the buoy.
