Three months of successfull observations by the buoy at the OOCS station

Three months ago (15 Oct 2009), the CEAB's oceanographic buoy was moored at its final location at the head of the Blanes canyon (OOCS station). In total, there has been five months of observations, including the two months of observations performed in a temporary mooring site on the shelf preceding the final mooring in the canyon head.

The measurements by the buoy instrumentation have been complemented by regular cruises performed by the team members to the mooring site since March 2009. The work done so far has allowed us collecting very important information on the oceanographic conditions as well as the meteorological conditions in the mooring site.

The data collected are being processed in order to disclose temporal patterns not even measured in the area at the time resolution measured by the buoy instrumentation.

By the way, the storm that took place yesterday and affected the Iberian Peninsula has caused substantial environmental changes, as registered at the station (see buoy data of the day 14th Dec). Along the Blanes beach, the effects have not been so negative like those effects produced by storms in the last year.
